Gitso
This is a reverse VNC application, specifically designed to enable users to get remote help from a friend with more IT awareness than them. It is often crucial for new Linux users.
Thankfully, Gitso comes with a precompiled .deb for Ubuntu. It does have a few dependencies, which obviously include VNC components. This may be too heavy for a lightweight OS, but if it works, it could save a few miles of travel!
If you chose to install GDebi, a simple double-click on the downloaded .deb will install all the dependencies for you.
Otherwise, you can use dpkg (assuming you downloaded to ~/) and apt-get again.
sudo dpkg -i gitso (press Tab key to complete filename)
sudo apt-get install -f
Hopefully, that will sort it out for you.
